Show Time

Ummmm yeah. We’re gonna need you to go ahead and come in on Saturday — because it’s Philly Tech Week!! You may have heard us mention it a couple times. 😬

The festivities kick off this Friday, April 27, and there will be exactly one hundred events overflowing with networking opportunities ripe for the taking.

Giddy up, kids. It’s go time.

The News You Need

Philly printing powerhouse Printfly procured a promising new partnership. In simpler terms, the folks behind RushOrderTees.com acquired digital agency Tonic Design, but none of those words started with “P” and we were going for an alliteration thing. It’s a savvy and exciting growth opportunity for the print pro, eager to enhance it’s customer-centric software design and tech talent pool (which you can jump into here).

Biotech startups Biorealize and ZSX Medical are the newest tenants to set up shop in the Pennovation Center. It’s a bold move considering the robots next door can open doors. Maybe they’ll use science to invent robot-resistant locks. Unless the robots learn science and undo them (uh oh). In any event, apply here or here, respectively. And be nice to the bots, just in case.

Man, the age old art of asking for money sure has changed. Local nonprofit Coded by Kids shook up its fundraising efforts by partnering with blockchain startup STEMchain. The cryptocurrency donation platform helps STEM-based causes tap into a new network of donors, and offers transparency into how the funds are utilized. So tell your shady Uncle Todd that you can’t invest “a little cash” in his “new business” this year, and get on board with the future of fundraising (reach out to STEMchain at the bottom of the page).

The Jobs You Want

Software Engineers, you’re up:

  • Edtech company Elsevier is looking for a “hands-on” Lead Software Engineer of Platforms who can guide a squad of up to five staffers, and knows what the heck “containerized microservices” means. Obviously we know what it means, we just want to know if you do...
  • Payment technology firm CardConnect (a First Data company) is hiring a Software Engineer, Java to architect, test and implement its leading fintech software.
  • Stratis — an IoT company that specializes in building smart cities — seeks a Software Engineer III (post-entry level). Entrepreneur magazine named it one of the “Best Companies in America” two years running. It’d be unpatriotic not to apply.
  • Digital advertising expert AppNexus is hiring a Senior Software Engineer, Client Side Tech. Get your horse mask out for this one. They like to have fun.

User Experience pros, these babies are for you:

Mid-Atlantic jobseekers, we got the goods right here:

  • Baltimore-based Fastspot is a women-owned creative agency looking for a Business Development Project Lead and offers more fun perks than we have time to list.
  • Fight poverty with technology at Propel in Brooklyn as a Senior Software Developer.
  • Civic-tech company Nava, based in D.C., is hiring a Product Manager who wants to create experiences that will help millions of Americans. Hard to say no to that. Unless you’re Ron Swanson.

The Best of the Rest:

Be sure to scan the rest of the job openings here while you map out your Philly Tech Week schedule (hint, hint). Thanks for stopping by, and see you on the scene!
