Meanwhile, Maryland finalized its proposal for the Broadband Equity, Access and Deployment program to expand internet access across the state. The funding came in lower than expected because of changes made to the program under the Trump administration.

Funding opportunity: Catalyst accelerator
Robin Hood is now accepting applications for Catalyst, its 4-month accelerator for pre-seed social impact startups. The program offers $100K in funding and 16 weeks of coaching, workspace, and community in Brooklyn (February–June 2026) to help founders with traction refine their product, strengthen their go-to-market, and build the partnerships needed for long-term success. Catalyst is open to for-profit and nonprofit ventures building tech for housing, education, future of work, health, financial services or any area impacting economic mobility for all.
Maryland’s Office of Statewide Broadband has submitted its proposal for the BEAD program — a federal effort to improve internet access — to the National Telecommunications and Information Administration, using $78 million of its original $268 million allocation.
Back in June, the NTIA changed the program’s eligibility rules, forcing states to revise their plans. It’s still unclear whether Maryland will be able to use the remaining BEAD funds for non-infrastructure projects, like digital skills training or workforce development, as the program originally allowed.
