Bethesda, Maryland-based Knowledge to Practice (K2P) launched a subscription-based educational platform for medical professionals looking to learn the most up-to-date information about COVID-19.

The six-year-old edtech company, which raised $3.7 million in January, uses adult learning techniques to deliver personalized core curriculum through its competency-based SaaS platform. Its new product, CurrentMD COVID, provides frontline workers with microlearning modules, spanning about five to 20 minutes each, and was designed to facilitate on-the-go learning about the coronavirus.

“Physicians on the frontlines need the most current information available in an easy-to-use format, and that’s exactly what CurrentMD COVID delivers,” K2P founder and CEO Mary Ellen Beliveau said in a statement. “Our platform distills the very latest findings on COVID-19 into short and effective learning modules, allowing providers to incorporate best practices at the rate of discovery.”

The edtech company brought CurrentMD COVID to market in two months in collaboration with medical experts, while K2P’s editorial board reviewed the new platform. CurrentMD COVID is updated on a rolling basis with coronavirus information and procedures with the aim of helping medical professionals deliver patients more quality care. The information on the platform comes from experts and medical journals and is split up between four learning tracks: COVID-19 background, clinical presentation, diagnosis and treatment and follow-up. CurrentMD COVID is mobile-friendly and users can personalize their experience.

“By making CurrentMD COVID available to all the providers in their networks, payors are offering them a convenient and accessible way to keep up with the latest developments and giving them the confidence that they have the best information at their fingertips,” Beliveau said.

K2P recently partnered with three health organizations in South Carolina to deploy its CurrentMD COVID platform to 25,000 health care providers across the state.
