M&A Moves: Reston’s Babel Street has acquired assets from Kansas-based Dunami

Babel Street acquired Kansas-based Dunami.

Reston, Virginia-based Babel Street, a multilingual data analytics software company, has acquired all of the intellectual property assets Kansas-based Dunami for an undisclosed amount. Dunami develops real-time data analysis software.

Some of the assets Babel Street acquired include patented technology that uses artificial intelligence and machine learning capabilities to identify key topics and thought leaders,as well as conduct relationship analysis of associated networks and audience, a spokesperson for the company told Technical.ly. While Babel Street works to integrate Dunami’s offerings into its product suite, the tech is already available as standalone offerings to Babel Street customers.

“This technology is a natural complement to our features and functionality as well as our diverse data offering,” said Babel Street founder and CEO Jeff Chapman in a statement. “We are proud to bring our clients these advanced capabilities that will enhance the speed and quality of their decision making.”

Thycotic acquires California-based Onion ID.

D.C. software company Thycotic has acquired Onion ID, a Hayward, California-based creator of a cloud-based security SaaS solution for businesses.

Twenty-four-year-old Thycotic provides cloud-ready privilege management solutions. With this acquisition, Thycotic added three new products to its privileged access management solutions portfolio.

Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed, but Onion ID now operates under Thycotic’s brand and leadership. Onion ID’s founder and CEO, Anirban Banerjee, now holds the title of VP of engineering for Thycotic’s access control team, according to his LinkedIn.

“By joining forces with Thycotic, we are enhancing our commitment to delivering user-friendly authentication, authorization and auditing to cloud servers, databases and applications,” Banerjee said in a press release.

Cloudbolt Software acquired Georgia-based SovLabs.

Bethesda, Maryland-based Cloudbolt Software has acquired Georgia-based SovLabs, provider of codeless integration and automation technologies for hybrid cloud frameworks.

Launched in 2012, Cloudbolt is the creator of an enterprise cloud management platform. The company acquired SovLabs for an undisclosed amount. This acquisition comes after Cloudbolt appointed Jeff Kukowski as its new CEO in April.

Though the companies didn’t disclose any immediate leadership changes, SovLabs will continue to operate as its own entity.

“This acquisition is a great outcome for SovLabs customers and for the overall market,” said Dave Wasserman, chief executive officer of SovLabs. “Our expertise lies in the ability to software-define complex integrations that enterprises need for successful automation projects. Our acquisition by CloudBolt allows us to support our customers and their growing tools of choice while expanding our capabilities to hybrid cloud orchestration and governance.”
