The Pittsburgh Robotics Network dropped a new national study this week — and it reveals a pretty wild perception gap around AI.
Most people think AI will shake up jobs in the next few years, but only a handful believe it’ll actually affect their own work. Check out the chart below and access the full report in our News Incubator section for more on this.
In other news this week: Pittsburgh’s shiny new airport terminal is packed with tech upgrades (with more coming soon). Plus, local startup Abridge just scored two major partnerships that’ll bring its AI platform to more than 60 new hospitals by next year.

Klein Camp: News Innovation (now with creators!)
Pittsburgh's thriving social media creator economy is at the forefront of how we get information today. With 1 in 5 adults now getting news from TikTok (no matter what age they are) and social media eclipsing TV as a source of information, we're introducing an expanded Klein Camp for its 16th edition. The annual unconference takes place Saturday, Nov. 8, in Philadelphia, and brings together hundreds of journalists, creators and other trusted information providers (hey brand marketers, we're talking to you!) for a day of fun and learning. Hope you can make it!
Pittsburgh International Airport unveiled its new $1.7 billion terminal over the weekend. The upgraded facility promises a more data-driven, high-tech travel experience to passengers.

Many of these tech upgrades stem from xBridge, a program operated by the Allegheny County Airport Authority that partners with startups to develop and test new ideas for a variety of airport uses. Continue reading...
Abridge expands UPMC partnership
UPMC doctors will soon spend less time typing and more time talking with patients, thanks to AI tech built in Pittsburgh.
The health system announced Thursday it plans to roll out local startup Abridge’s AI note-taking platform across its entire network by next year. It’s not the startup’s only deal this week — Abridge also announced it will deploy its tech at one of the largest hospital systems in the Northeast — but it’s a personal one for Abridge CEO and cofounder Shiv Rao, who’s still a practicing UPMC cardiologist.
“This is a full-circle moment for me,” Rao told Technical.ly. “UPMC is where I trained and continue to see patients and was one of the first health systems to pilot Abridge.” Continue reading...
